Choppers have always been about doing it your way, stripped down, built up, and made to reflect the rider as much as the bike. That’s the spirit behind every piece in this gallery, whether it’s a vintage knucklehead, a panhead, a shovelhead, or a modern build running an Evo or Twin Cam.
This one started as a social media animation piece, but the response was strong enough that it went on to become poster and t-shirt design.
Classic choppers like this are what I was drawing as a kid back in the ’70s, and they’re still my go-to when I’m creating artwork for myself. I don’t usually work from one straight reference, I’ll take the paint job off one bike, the engine and exhaust off another, and build the rest adding my own twist to it.
This piece was created for a returning customer who specializes in custom chopper builds. We drew this Softail chopper in our signature toon-style, exaggerated wheels, forks and pipes, and a chromed-out Twin Cam engine, with the custom flaked paint job.
